Hi - Can anybody tell me if I buy a digital TV recorder - will it work with SKY TV ? I currently subscribe to SKY for their "family package" and do not wish to pay any further subscription charges, ie for their SKY PLUS package.
Thanks in advance.

Yes- except for any encrypted channels that can't be recorded. These are the premium film channels and so on.

Thanks Ethel - appreciated..
Digital tv recorders that have built in freeview do not usually record from sources like sky, however, usually the dvd recorders (ones that may have hard disks too) that can record from a source can record from sky.
I never thought I'd hear myself say this ... but consider sky+
it's painless and anything you want to save (films too!)
can easily be sent over to a recorder (hdd/dvd/vcr).

It also takes the pain out of timed recording(s)
