It works well but obviously the computer the printer is physically connected to has to be switched on if you want to print to it
on the computer the printer is connected to install the software for the printer then select start > setting > printers and faxes and right click on the printer and select sharing and put a tick in share this printer and give it a share name.
Then on the other computer goto printers again and add a new printer, and on the add printer wizard select network printer and browse the network for the printer, it should find it and install the drivers automatically.
You can then print to that printer using either computer.

do I remember you are on a BT home hub?
Assuming it's a USB printer - plug it in to the usb slot on the back of the hub
