Theres seems to have been a major upset in the past few weeks but not being there I dont understand whats going on.

as ive already said this has always beenthe case
theyre just starting to block by the looks of it

as you dont pay a licence fee for your tv set in spain youre not entitled to bbc programmes .
simple as that .
BBC and Sky have put there feet down re Telmicro illegally broadcasting their programmes.

Telmicro can't fight such huge corporations so have pulled the plug, or switched off.
Who do you pay for the Sky package?

I have always understood that the license Sky have to show their programs ONLY allows them to show them in the UK and they are not allowed to be shown outside the UK.

This is true for things like Premier football for example.

I have heard of people buying a Sky card in the UK and then taking it abroad to use it, which as far as I am aware breaks Sky's rules.

Sorry VHG -we pay Teleast Digital,S.L -they installed the package for us and it has worked perfectly for nearly 3 yrs -we had no idea that any law was being broken.
I get mine through a company who "supplies"them to a block of flats in England. No probs here in Ibiza as yet. I know it's illegal, but hey. I thought we were all Europeans under the same umbrella. It's about time we could pick and choose and pay for any European TV prog that we want. btw I do not get BBc or ITV as my dish is not big enough. Could not live here without Sky.
Also Sky will loose an absolute fortune if the ex-pats stop paying!!!
Dris - here's what you do, you get a Sky box in England, sign up in England, pay through your English bank and then either take the card and use in another box in Spain (Movies and Sports won't work but all else will) or take Sky Box with you, easy to plug in and if the card is for Movies and Sports that will work OK. We'll defeat them girl!!!
Of course you will need a satellite dish in Spain, if you are not too bothered with BBC then 1metre dish is adequate for most Sky programms although not all . For BBC and ITV a much bigger dish 1.+m (not sure in your area)is needed but they cost about 1.000.

Aww Net -thanks so much for that advice -I see where youre coming from and we pay for 2 skyboxes in Scotland as it is so it wouldnt be a problem. We have the correct size dish -what I cant understand is that when we are out there -say when im watching Soccer AM for example they make reference to the x-pats watching and send a greeting -same with GMTV -so it seems like its accepted that ex-pats or workers abroad pay for and receive the service.
We dont sit in front of the box all the time we're there but our Spanish is so limited its good to even catch the news !

I'll keep you posted once we come back out for a week on Saturday- will be out again in December so we will prob bring your idea into play -after all we havent cheated anyone -just have to find a way round it -thanks for your advice !!!
You can phone any prog ie Channel Five,
and many others they'll read the message from abroad, as they are not committing any crimes, we are, but the programme makers don't care. It's the big bosses. Sky News of course can be seen in many countries legally as part of a foreign package. If you need any help email me on [email protected] and I'll help with all I know.
