Hi, just created a website for my dad, first time I've ever made one, just wondering if anyone can tell me how to be found by search engines, please use very simple terms as I don't really know what I'm doing with it, just playing at being useful at the moment! Thanks very much.

Before you submit your site, you should ensure that you have included a meta tag with appropriate key words.
This should be placed in the <head> section of the page and take the form:

<meta name="keywords" content="some appropriate phrases, words, separated, by commas"/>

The words and phrases you use need to fulfill three conditions:
1) They should ones that you think people might type in when searching for a site like yours
2) They should be appropriate for the content of your site
3) They should actually occur on the site.

An effective little trick for getting found by search engines can be to include links to other sites on your site
