when i put a web site on my desk top
it puta files icon as well
how can i avoid that
i do not want the two

When you put a shortcut to a website on the desktop, the icon is a blue "e", if Internet Explorer is your default web browser.

To do this from Internet Explorer, go to File -> Send -> Shortcut to Desktop.

To do this from the Desktop, right-click, go to New -> Shortcut.

I have no idea what you mean by "file icon", but I suspect you are choosing "Save As" from Internet Explorer.
