Not necessarily a special aerial but you'll have problems with a ground. An ordinary aerial will do but you'd need to run a wire from the base of it to the chassis or any other reasonably sized steel part. It could be that the cab has a steel frame which would do excellently if you can get to it.
Just been thinking about this a little more, CB's and Radios don't work very well with Fibre Glass cabs but consider the mobile phone aerials that stick to windscreens. They work very well with no ground at all so if your question relates to a mobile phone then no you shouldn't have a problem
Thanks , it is relating to a radio . So maybe a special aerial is needed ? Totally ignorant on this subject to be honest , am asking on behalf of my brother who's actually a driver & knows as much as I do .
as scaniavabis said you will need a ground for the aerial, this could be archived by the above method of running a cable but I personally would do it by getting a plate of metal about a foot square (biscuit tin lid would do) drilling a hole through the middle and mounting that on the inside of the cab with the aerial bolted through it.
it's a technique I have used to mount CB aerials to fibreglass cars and works well at providing a ground plane for the aerial and also has the benefit of spreading the load of the aerial mount over a larger area.
