i really don't what to do! we live in a housing co-operative flat . i have lived here for 13 years . a new family moved in about a year ago . the mother of the family seemed really nice at first if not a bit over the top with her niceness .. inviting me to baby groups with her . telling me personal stuff etc. since then we had a few problems with our cat being let into the comunal hall way at night and ******* the other neighbours off . . this was happening due to her husband smoking in the door to the garden.and letting him late a night when we were in bed and didn,t know. we left a note up saying could people if the cat is late on by giving us a text or missed call. this never happend . after the cat being in the hall every morning we left a polite note addressed to the whole house asking if any one had any ideas to solve this problem.she took this very personally and wrote a very nasty note back. since then she found any excuse to complain and leave note after note up about the smallest of things .my 13 year old son was locked out in the rain tonight and there was no body else in so rang her bell she told him never to ring her bell again .

Jay... some of your Question doesn't read too well... I can't work out why the cat is getting the blame for the husband smoking and the neighbour complaining about the son in the rain. Was the cat trapped in the hallway ? If so, I can totally understand everyone's anguish (esp the poor cat) .... Also, why is the husband smoking in the door (what does that mean ?) and letting lates get him (what on earth is a late ?)

i think the neighbour goes outside for a smoke when jay 90 has already gone to bed and the neighbour keeps the door open whilst smoking so the cat creeps in and piddles much to the annoyance of all the other the neighbours in the flats , if i was you jay id keep the cat in when you go to bed , even if you have to get a cat litter tray , the wife of the smoker is acting chilish ignoring your son and leaving him outside in the rain ( silly 3ow) and the smoking neighbour shouldnt be wedging / holding the door open whilst having a smoke and smelling the flats out with his ciggarettes !

Jay... don't worry about english not being your first language... everyone here (well, nearly everyone lol) has been trying to help you ! As Dot says, maybe you need to get back in touch with your neighbour and try to sort out this problem for good - it's no fun for the cat, for your son, for anyone having to use the hall etc etc. Maybe it would be better if the cat had her litter tray and was not able to escape into the communal hall for the time being.
Would it not be possible to have a cat flap fitted to your internal door, then if your cat is trapped in or let in through the communal door they he/she could go into your home.
At thirteen I think a key should be OK for your lad also does he not have no mates around where you are?
Leaving notes is petty, however don't you think they might find it impolite to wake you up with a text if you'd already gone to bed?
