Running a laptop from a car battery
2 Answers
Hi, I have tried using my laptop in the car but cannot see the screen due to reflections. Is there a way to connect the computer to the car battery via the cigar lighter socket so the screen is brighter, as when connected to mains power?

Look for two keys with pictures of a sun on them in a different colour (often the arrow keys, but not always) and hold down the fn key and use those keys to adjust the screen brightness.
However turning up the brightness will eat the battery quicker. if you want to power your laptop in the car the cheapest way is using a mains inverter such as the one on the link below.

Many thanks ChuckFickens for your advice about brightening my laptop screen in the car. I didn't even consider the screen adjustment controls. "Duh" . I had actually just bought an inverter before I asked the question but didn't want to take it out of the box if there was an alternative method (as indeed there is). Now I have tried both, the problem is well solved. Thanks again.
