i believe tft is a regular monitor and lcd is a flat panel monitor

A regular monitor is CRT (Cathode Ray Tube ) TFT stands for Thin Film Transistor and is the modern flat panel display. LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display and is older technology but is mistakenly used to describe a modern flat panel monitor.
