loss of internet
1 Answers
I am experiencing problems with my internet which keeps crashing and my screen reverts to screen saver. There is no pattern sometimes it is OK for a long time and sometimes it crashes as soon as I enter. This message has taken me SIX attempts.
I have contacted VIRGIN my broadband supplier as I thought it might be their box but they have checked their supply and say it is OK, also if it was a problem with their equipment I would get a message"INTERNET EXPLORER CANNOT DISPLAYTHE WEBSITE PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SERVER SUPPLIER" Which I do not get. They say it must be a problem with my software.
Can anyone help a frustrated pensioner?

which operating system
how much memory (right click my computer | properties)
what service pack, how much RAM)
how big hard disk - how much free space
crashing to screensaver?
by default if the mouse doesn't move windows will lock your machine with the screensaver
if no password - the ouse should wake it up
if password - password wakes it
I've seen a few machines where the power management takes over and the machine won't wake up
follow this
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup /learnmore/russel_02march25.mspx
disable all settings - that way the machine should stay awake - see how (if) that works
