TV has Freeview incorporated, and have just added a Freeview Plus recorder, but it doesn't have all the channels that the TV has, yet they are both hooked up to the same aerial - how come?

Different TVs (and associated devices like your Freeview Plus recorder) have different 'sensitivities' to radio frequency signals. It seems that your recorder isn't as good at 'pulling in' weak signals as your TV is.

You might need to upgrade your aerial system. (That means both your aerial and, just as importantly, the cable as well). If so, this aerial has been highly-recommended many times here on AB:

However, given that your TV can receive all channels (and your recorder can receive some), it would be well worth trying a cheap signal booster first. (Try Asda, Tesco Extra or Maplin Electronics. They don't cost much).

Thanks, Buenchico, I'll give the booster a go first. Liz
Check when you area goes all digital with analogue turned off.

Apparently they will hugely increase the power of the digital transmitter then.
Dear Liz.......First of all R.T.F.I.B.
Have you completed the set-up for the recorder? There would have been a "Search for new channels" button somewhere in the set-up procedure, you need to do this to find channels that have been added or re-numbered since the tuner/s in the recorder were programmed during manufacture. It may have been made over a year ago even if you have just bought it.
Are you using a splitter by any chance, I had this problem because I had one cable to tv and other to box, now just use the one straight to the box, means the box has to be on to get the best picture.
