can a dvd burned on a pc be played on a mac

i have burned a dvd on my pc for a friend, but he has a mac,...'compatibility' is my question- is there a device or a code he needs to download to play the dvd on his mac, he says he gets stuttering sound and no picture. help appreciated!

yes if it's burned in proper DVD format it should play on any dvd player. Are you sure it's burned as a DVD rather than data on a DVD or one of the myriad of other formats.
