I have a Sony LCD tv with a PC input on the back (looks like a 15 pin type of connection) and I have a d-link 4-port wireless router. I am trying to connect my PC to my TV to play videos, music, etc, through my tv. Is it possible just to connect a lead from the router to the tv (approximate distance 8m)? I have tried the d-link DSM-330 divx connected wirelessly and was disappointed, i.e. very slow to respond.

No way. The 15 pin connector is a video in socket and can only be connected to the video out port of your PC. I.e. the TV can be used as a monitor.
