Storage cupboard

I am about to put all my belongings into a cupboard in my cellar, as I can't afford to pay storage prices. It is about 6' x 4' and has shelves all around the edge. The walls are brick with thin plaster on, and the floor is concrete. Previously I stored boxes of stuff in this cupboard and some video tapes I had went mouldy- ie- they got white fluff on the tape inside the casette.

Is there anything I could do to this cupboard to try to make it a bit less damp and mouldy?! ie- on the floor or walls? The door will be locked for some months- maybe a year.

If you have clothes of soft furnishings like curtains, towels etc, then instead of packing them in boxes, use compression bags to get all the air out. Like these,

I would also suggest this basket and the granules to try and reduce the moisture in the air. Maybe a get a couple if you cant get anyone to empty it while you are away.
