Digital pic date

Is it possible to alter or fake the date & time shown on the imageof a digital picture? I have been e mailed a JPG in Quick time PRO. The date & time are important & I wonder if they could have been tampered with. Thanx

This again would use the date that the camera was set to.
If you can get hold of the original JPEG file, then edit it wth say notepad, near the top will be a string of data including the camera it was taken on, and the date and time.
You could at least confirm the date INSIDE the file is the same as that shown on your QT file.

the date and time is subject to the camera being set up correctly - I must have had a hell of a time on the first of january 2000 - 16 holidays - trips to the beach .... that incedent in the park ;o/

But it may be still worth checking to see if the EXIF date is the same as the date shown on the QT image.
The person may not be aware that the EXIF data exists (maybe)
