purchasing mobile phone from USA?

hi, i want to purchase a mobile phone from USA via Ebay becuase its �40 cheaper. im just wondering do you think there are differences between a UK model and a USA model?

please advise me.

Different charger for a start, probably have different features activated on it. For �40 extra, buy it from the UK. There's a real chance you'll clobbered with import duty as well which will make the saving on the original price pretty pointless.
All of above, and you may find it is locked to a USA network so you'll find you'll have to pay to get it unblocked as well
Also, mobile phone networks in the USA operate on completely different frequencies to those in the USA. Unless it's a 'tri-band' phone, it won't work here.

Mobile phones don't attract import duty but the postman will still want 17�% of the value of the phone (and possibly !7�% of the cost of carriage as well) to pay the import VAT. Further, there'll be an �8 customs examination fee to pay. So importing a �100 phone will cost you �25.50. If it's a �200 phone, you'll have to pay �43.
