I am really annoyed at myself. For years n years with several printers I have only bought Genuine Ink - no messing around with refills etc. Recently I thought, why am I paying 40 odd when others pay 15, and bought remanufactured cartridges.
I cannot get my cartridges to align and it appears to be due to the new black cartridge. No black ink coming out, I feel like ive been conned in a way as they were advertised as 'suitable for HP PSC 2179' printer when they obviously arent.
Is it just my bad luck? lol or do others find this is wasted money?
I print a lot of photographs and find that the genuine cartridges although a lot dearer give me the best results. I have not had much success with the compatibles the colours are not quite as true as they should be. So now I stick to the genuine ink.

thanks Louise, I am so annoyed at getting sucked into the cheaper option, I did call a shop first and they said there was no difference in the refilled ones or compatibles, grrr
A huge waste of money. I know someone who refilled his own at a fraction of the price. An alternative is to choose a Kodak printer where the cost of ink is a much less than other well known makes.
The printers are so cheap nowadays and the printing is excellent, yet they get you on the price of the ink!! My last order was over 70, but in my case, false economy with the compatibles, they just did not work for me. So the real deal for me from now on :)
I tried compatible cartridges once and the printer would not even register that there was a cartridge installed, total false economy, only genuine ones for me from now on.
Whether you bought genuine or compatible cartridges, they are covered by the Sale of Goods Act. So, if you have a problem with a cartridge (and even branded cartridges occasionally have problems), simply return it for a refund or replacement.
Thanks Rojash I have contacted the seller to ask what I should do, Im afraid it was an Ebay purchase. However the goods are not fit for purpose for my printer.
I used cartridges from W H Smith for a long time in my Canon. When I switched to Staples it clogged up and I could not clean the head. I replaced the head and allis now fine. I am using Morissons which are fiine.
I also bought a Kodak ESP3 printer for photos and its brilliant. I keep the Canon for documents because it does double sides.
