Virus software etc.

Morning all,

I am getting very confused as to what protection I should have on my pc.

I know I must have virus software and firewall but what about things like spam blockers, spyware, registry clean up?

Until recently I was with BT where everything was inlcuded, now that I am with TalkTalk pc protection via Talktalk is charged for each piece of software.

Can someone please tell me what I should have on my pc to keep it "safe" and the best provider.

All the above are free. Other people will have their own opinions and suggest alternatives, but I like these.

only thing I'd add is
ccleaner is excellent - it gets to all those important little places .... don't be tempted to use a registry cleaner, notice ethel hasn't listed one

they are at best useless - at worst will do more damae than good
