Just had 2 emails from my brother promoting this company.
he hasn't sent them, so I'm assuming its a virus of some sort.
Anybody else come across it and if so will AVG, Spybot or Adaware clear it?

If it's just a spoof email, there is no virus there. Nothing will clean it, just delete it.

Thanks for the reply. But surely if it's gone to his address book, got my email address and sent a message using his email address it must be a bit of a threat?
It actually sent 2 emails, one using just his name and the other using his complete email address.
Checking out tradefaithfully.com on the web it appears to be a company, although for obvious reasons I didn't open the link.
It has also been discussed on forums in US, Spain and France, (albeit with different versions of the advert) so it's getting around
I don't like things like this happening to my PC.

It depends just what's going on...
if we assume that it's a bog standard setup ... not running own mailserver

the most likely is a trojan - the hard bit is to get someone to install the softwear (which is all a trojan is)

once you've done that ... it will either post an e-mail to each person in your list.....

the refinement it to send an e-mail to a random series of letters a@gmail (or whichever system is targeted)then b@gmail .... all the way to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz@gmail

it's known as a bot network ... and it's estimated that 1,000,000s of machines will be doing it right now.

a decent firewall should catch it trying to access the network
and I think it's fair to say most trojans would come under the heading of virus - so AVG should kill it.

HOWEVER - most people see a box saying allow xxx to access the network ... and automatically click yes ....

Run AVG, Spybot and Adaware check.
Nothing on AVG, usual rubbish on Spybot & Adaware but nothing resembling this. So lets hope all is clear and it's not going any further.
Trouble is it came from my brother who is old, had astroke, not really computer literate and hasn't a clue what he's done, so won't know if he's downloaded anything. Duh.
