Retrieving Emails/Folders
5 Answers
This is a bit of a long shot and I am at a loss on what I can do. I will try and be brief and to the point. PC had to be wiped clean, I backed up everything I wanted. I have two email addresses and thought I could still access them which I can with msn, unfortunately one account that I need to access I cannot do it. I have a pop3 account with wanadoo. which used to go through outlook (I think) I can access my emails but not the folders I had. Since computer cleaned I got microsoft outlook and set that up to forward my emails to there with no problems. I thought if i set up an outlook express account I would be able to retrieve my folders but I still can't. I also receive the emails to this account as well. Is there anyway I could get these folders back before I go totally doolally, and just put it down to experience and continue to ban my husband from using the pc as it was his fault ha ha. Finally another issue is with microsoft outlook how can I stop a page opening automatically. I don't even like the set up of it. My previous version had a list on the left hand side and had the option of seeing who and what the message entailed and could either delete or mark it as junk etc. The one I have now is the sender and title are above the actual email when it is opened and any spam can get opened. I have xp by way and sorry I have rambled on a bit. Cheers Jayne

If they were "personal folders", then they would be local to the machine itself (i.e. they would have been stored on the C-Drive).
If this is the case, and the machine was wiped, if you didnt back up the .PST files, then im afraid you have probably lost them.

Just re-read your answer the folders itself were set up and stored on outlook express, I didn't keep them on the pc itself if you know what I mean like in my documents. Don't know if this would make a difference. I just thought I could log into outlook express or whatever I had and they would be there just like the personal ones in Hotmail. I knew I wouldn't be able to access the personal folders in the actual pop3 account as set up on outlook. Sorry if I am confusing you more

You don't log on to Outlook Express in the same way as you do hotmail.
Outlook Express is ON the C drive of your computer. Mail on it has been downloaded from a server somehere and thereafter is stored on your PC
With hotmail you are looking at the mail on the hotmail server - ie it is remote, not local
