Computer rebooting for no reason
7 Answers
My computer has just started rebooting it's self automatically for no reason. I'll be working away, and the screen will go black and it reboots - no warning or anything. When it does reboot it gets half way through and then freezes. I've checked for a virus and the system is clean - any ideas ? The comp is 3 years old, it's getting quite slow but I've never had a prolem like this before.

couple of things come to mind ,,,
1) 3 years old ...and you say it won't reboot immediately ... I wonder if it's overheating?
Open the box ... does it look like a sort of grey snowscene inside?
especially the fans ... if they look like dandelion clocks ... you need to gently brush all the dust out (I use wife's blusher brush) then carefully vac the gunk out of the base
if hat's not it ...
2) take notice EXACTLY what is happening at the time ... what you are doing ... and which apps are open - and how long you've been doing whatever
just before it goes black ... any messages?

I've had the side off and looked inside - surprisingly there wasn't a lot of dust at all. There was a little in the bottom which I've cleaned out. It doesn't seem to be overheating, I left it on all day yesterday without a problem. The last time this happened was 2/3 weeks ago, then it was fine up until now. Thanks for all your answers, I'll have to have it looked at if the problem continues. x
i think you should check your registry
maybe there is a problem
you can do an online scan http://www.registryfix123.com/
