Just bought new PC with vista. Have fitted a Firewire card to download and edit my home videos from my Sony Digital handycam but now would like to download and edit home movies I took years ago with an old analogue handycam. Anyone any ideas as to what I would need to achieve this please

Depends what format they are in. If VHS then you will need a video capture card. If 8 mm, the best option is to beg steal or borrow a digital 8 camcorder. Most digital 8 camcorders will also play 8mm analog tapes and output them to firewire
