ipod not updating playlist

we've had a new PC & have re-installed itunes and uploaded all my music no problem. Previously when i played a song that wasn't alreday in my "recently played" playlist, the song would drop to the bottom of the list, then go to the top when i connected the ipod to itunes. Now, the a song won't go to the recently played list at all unless i connect the ipod to itunes. I can only assume it's something to do with the settings because it wasn't a problem until we got this new computer. Does anyone know how i can put it right?

check the settings have you ticked or unticked boxes in the settings menus

i've looked on my settings on the ipod itself and also the preferences menu on itunes and can't find anything that could be causing the problem
