Anti Virus 2009

I have got a Virus alert and a Pop Ups to advise I need to install MS AntiVirus. It clearly isnt a genuine MS message and I havent installed it however whenever I go to Google it pops up again and then loads a screen telling me I have lots of viruses. I guess its a scam to purchase something to remove this. Avast Anti Virus isnt picking it up. There appears to be lots of articlesand forums on this with recommendations on how to remove but I am not sure I can trust any of them, and I am not technical enough to mess about with files.

Anyone help please ?

As you say, getting the virus is the first problem, trying to find a genuine program that will get rid of it (and not just give you ANOTHER virus) is the second problem.

While I have not tried it, it seems the product Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will do the trick.

(As i say, not used it myself so you use at your own risk. It may be worth waiting till others have replied to see if there is a solution most people suggest)

I cant access any site that relates to Malware Bytes or Anti Virus 2009 as it is being blocked. I cant even open the link you posted, but I have found a site that is giving me an option to download it from it is
