in my experience with winmx you have to queue to dl anything & emule takes forever to get going. it all depends what you are after but i swear by bit torrent - no spam,no virus's and 99.9% of the files posted are actually what they claim to be!!!

Actually, the programs themselves aren't illegal, but the content available to share might be. It depends on what you want to dl. A lot of folk on here swear by WinMX for music. Kazaa Lite is (possibly only relatively) ad/spyware free, and I have found it OK for music, though there are lots of fake files. If you want the very latest TV episodes, then Bittorrent is very fast but you have to get file details from websites (you can't search the network) and stuff often isn't available for long. Emule is pretty good for older TV shows, but it is slow.
