I've inherited a second hand PC, how can I remove the AOL internet rubbish. I've tried the uninstall programme but it says it's in use but it's not. The PC is running so slowly, I'm trying to unclutter it.

Try SpyBot S&D or AdAware, they might remove AOL (haha) Or Control Panel / Add Or Remove Programs Or format the hard drive & reinstall Windows (or any other operating system you'd like to use)
Great, what happened to line breaks
the AOL tray might still be running. In the bottom right-hand corner of your screen (where the current time is displayed) you should see a tiny AOL icon. Try right-clicking on that & selecting Exit. You could also try pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete at the same time (hold the Ctrl key down, then the Alt key, then press the Delete key once). This should bring up a list of programs currently running on your PC. If there's anything with AOL listed, select it & press "End task". Then try uninstalling. If that doesn't work you may need to start the PC up in Safe Mode. Might be better coming back if you get to this stage. Once you have uninstalled AOL I would also recommend running a search on your PC for all the rogue AOL files that will be left behind. Find the search option and search "All files & folders" for *AOL*.* - whatever you find, delete it. Good luck!
Hmmm. Lack of line breaks. just to confirm, when you've finished search for *aol*.*
yeah, the new AOL is full of crapthat clutters the PC. when i complained, they said that LOADS of people are moaning about it and apologised!
