printing

Hi, I have a tower connected to a printer via usb. The computer is wired to a netgear router. The router is wired to a powerline unit. This then sends the Internet down the mains. The Internet is picked up at a laptop in another room. This works very well. I have set file sharing and printer sharing etc. But I cannot get the laptop to print back down the system. Both machines are Vista. I don't think the laptop sees the other computer. But do I need to change the cat5e cable between the tower and the router to a crossover type?
Or is there something else I need to do.
Thanks in advance GM

I have a network printer and not a networked printer - but vista was quite happy to use it - even loaded it's own drivers
