Media player on a PC

What programme can I use to watch DVDs on my PC? I have rented one and am trying to watch it but only have Windows Media Player, WinDVD and VLC player.

When I try to play it through VLC it just gets jammed at the "Warning" screen (the one about not broadcasting publicly etc), and Windows Media and WinDVD will go further but I have no picture, just sound (it has been like this since installing dual screens and we can't work out why). I have downloaded the newest version of WMedia but it's no better

Is there anyway way round this or is there any other programme that I can download to watch a DVD on? It is a rented DVD, not a pirate or a download.

See question above
lol
thank goodness it's not just me ;-)

I use GOM
http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html
never beaten yet - even plays damaged files

however if by some chance ...
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_Meg a_codec_pack.htm

this should fix

Thanks, downloaded Gom but same thing, all sound no picture
chazza, did you try ActheTROLL's second suggestion - sounds like missing codecs (unless it IS because of your dual screen - try switching back?). Media player especially likes to have the latest codecs (but is usually OK with DVDs).

Unusual fo VLC not to play a DVD - I only get problems with HD video files.

I didn't try it as I wasn't sure what on that link to download!

Switching back is not an option as the dual screens are essential
I know .... it's a bit of a poser .... how about the one that says
Release Date: Dec 24, 2008
Download GOM Media Player 2.1.14.4525 (4.78 MB)
It's the big red one hidden in the middle of the screen!

... although to be fair ... the link is a little slow

the codecs (required if gom can't cope on it's own)
is a bit trickier .... it's in blue - it says
"Download K-Lite Mega Codec"

install both and there won't be much you can't play

AC if you actually read the previous posts you will see that I already tried GOM!

As stated above, it was your second suggestion I wasn't sure of, as the link auto-forwarded me to a page with about 30 links to download on it.

Anyway GOM didn't work either
