Is this a misleading advertisement or a rip off ?

B&Q are advertising half price installation of bathrooms but when I received my installation quotation of �417 they also added a �420 Outer City Installation Surcharge which doubled the installation price . Their excuse was I didn't live in a city next to their depot. In fact I live only 3 miles their warehouse .In any case this poor excuse was totally irrelevant as the installation is carried out by a local firm not by B&Q themselves.

Ive had a quote for fitting a kitchen, no surcharges on mine (though at �3500 its still pricey) and i live 20 miles from my nearest store, no idea where the warehouses are

That's interesting my inclusive price for the bathroom suite
was �2500 which included the �420 surcharge. All the salesmen I spoke to were not happy about it and couldn't really explain what is was for but said the surcharge was normal .

ive got my quote in front of me with all the breakdowns. Ive looked under the bit headed "B&Q GIS works item list" and there is no surcharge at all.

Id call another branch perhaps and see if they come up with same thing

Thanks for all the information I can't get any further clarification on the surcharge installation costs from B&Q they don't seem to know. I wonder if you would mind telling me your installation costs as set out in the GIS Works Item List . I know yours is for a kitchen and mine is for a bathroom but it would give me a better idea of the separate labour components , e.g.installation of units, removing tiles, installing tiles etc My total labour cost is �1800 which includes the surcharge of �420. Thanks once again.
