My apologies, Ron.
When I posted before I knew that you could no longer use Outlook Express to access Hotmail but I was under the impression that you could still use Outlook. (Trying to find this sort of information is made difficult by the fact that there seem to be more out-of-date web pages, even from so-called 'reliable' sources, than there are ones with current information).
Having Googled a bit further, I now find that unless you pay $19.95 per year to upgrade to Hotmail Plus, you can't use Outllook to receive Hotmail:

I've always hated Hotmail. I gave up on it many years ago because of its total lack of reliability. My recommendation would be to ditch it completely and stick with GMail and/or Gawb (which is what I use), both of which can be accessed through Outlook.
Apologies again for accidentally misleading you.

Thanks Chris. When I had your last answer(re emails) I started trawling & discovered that I already had a forgotten outlook acc so I have been trying to get my hotmail into it,seeing your present answer (above) it would appear that I will not be able to do that,so like you I also have both gmail & gawab I shall attempt to get those into outlook, but will I need the address details to install them into outlook if so can you tell me where I will find those details Ron.
Hello again.
Full details of how to set up a Gawab account, and how to use it with Outlook Express (or Outlook - it's basically the same set up procedure) are in paragraphs 3, et seq, of my post here:
http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Inte rnet/Question407429.html
If you're using Outlook 2003, instructions for setting up GMail are here:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?h l=en&answer=13278
(Click the links under 'Getting started').
If you're using Outlook 2007, the recommended way to access GMail is through IMAP (which is meant to be more reliable), rather than using POP3. Instructions are here:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?h l=en&answer=77689
However, if you wanted to use POP3, the information from the Outlook 2003 link should still be valid.
