Highlighting Your Hair @ Home
Due to the credit cruch / lack of job etc situation I am in at the moment I can't afford to go and have my hair done as I usually would as it costs quite a bit so I was in Sainsburys the other day and they had a highlighting kit half price so I bought it.
Does anyone have any useful tips on ways to do this myself? I dont want to do it then HAVE to go hairdressers and probably spend more just getting it sorted out.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I would get a mate to come round and help you to ensure you do the bits at the back that you can't see. If you follow the instructions and don't go for any drastic colour changes you should be ok.
I never go to a proper hairdressers. I have a lady who advertised in the paper, she comes round to do my hair for 30/40 (dye and cut) - you could try this if you have enough pennies?

if this is your first try of a home hair kit, follow the instructions carefully, make sure you are prepared with everything open and ready, clear the decks and set aside time, have a clock handy, leave the colour on slightly less time if you have coloured hair already, make sure you use cotton wool behind your ears and around your neck incase you burn your skin, really follow the step by step properly. having someone to rinse for you is ideal as they can be thorough. Use your usual conditioner rather than the ione with the pack if possibe
Hi sazzyco, I think you are very brave, I used to do the same thing and I ended up with very dry broken peroxide hair. It looked terrible but at the time I had no money and had no choice,. I wouldn't take a chance on it again though no matter how broke I was. If i was you I would take that colour back to get a refund and then book in to have your hair done at a fraction of the cost by students in training in a hair salon. They are fully supervised but give yourself plenty of time as they can be a bit slow..
What a good tip terambulan, wish I`d tried that when I couldn`t get my usual Clairol and tried a different brand. It turned bright orange.
Never had any disasters before, but I had to go brown for a while, and then back to blonde, but it`s taken me about 3 months to get it back to how I want it.
You definitely need someone to do it for you if you`re highlighting, to pull right amount of hair through the cap.
