What are file attributes?

How can I access file attributes on a san disk, and what will they tell me?

They will tell you if the file is

Read only or not
hidden or not
archived or not
a system file or not

the easiest way to view the attributes is open the memory stick so your viewing the files you want to know the attributes of, click on the view menu and select details, then right click on on if the column headings (where it says name or type etc) and in the menu that pops up select attributes and it will add another column that tells you them.

Although if this is the stick you found why anybody would want to know the file attributes is beyond me!

OK it's not the file attributes they are asking about, JPEG pictures have comments embedded in the picture that gives information about the pic for example a picture I have on my hard drive has the following info embedded into it

Image Type: jpeg (The JPEG image format)
Width: 1600 pixels
Height: 1200 pixels
Camera Brand: Sony Ericsson
Camera Model: W910i
Date Taken: 2008:12:21 14:10:24
Exposure Time: 1/249 sec.

To view this info Right click on the picture and select properties and then click the summery tab, and then on the advanced button.

However it is very unlikely that there will be any info that will be of any help stored in the JPEG.

I agree I would be suspicious of just sending it to a random person.

difficult not knowing the full story - and it's getting more intriguing - give us a bit more detail . go on, go on, go on

Something to consider is if the person was on holiday - or visiting ... probably the disk only contains copies of the files

the sandisk (or memory key/stick/usb thingy ....) isn't worth a fortune ... so the net loss is probably negligable.

Could the IT guy just want to know the date attributes to try to link it back to the customer. He doesnt need the san disk why cant you just email some of the files to him?
