can someone tell me how am i supposed to connect to Wi-fi? ive got a Macintosh Emac desktop. but have gone around in circles trying to connect to the internet. i was given a number to enter, but havent a clue how to go input the number
I don't know about Macs but normally your computer tries to connect to the internet if the wi-fi is activated. If you get the little computer icon of the wi-fi in your toolbar (near the clock) right click that and instruct it to view available networks. Click the network that corresponds with your router and click connect. That should open a small window asking for a WEP or WPA number, enter the number you have which I presume is a default code.
When things are up and running read your manual (online?) and change your encryption to safeguard yourself against bandwidth theft.
Hope this helps.
If it didn't, at least I got my typing practice in :-)
1) What version of Mac OS X? 10.2., 10.3, etc? Jaguar, Panther, Tiger?
2) Click Apple logo top-left, then About This Mac. Then click More Info. On left pane of resulting window, click Network. What does it list in top right pane? Is there Airport listed? If so, click it --- what does it say in bottom right pane for Airport?
yes ethel, i beleive it is wi-fi enabled. how do i know, well a computer expert who i knew has left my city came around and almost got me connected, the prob was the router, but this was 2 years ago in another flat
well fo 3nix and francheska, i still cant connect to the internet via wi-fi!!!
i tried fo 3nixs idea of going thru the palaver of geting to the network, but all i could see was an airport card, so i clicked on this and it said no information. as for WEP and WPA, couldnt find them. plus clicking onto the system preferences , i didnt see anything saying internet. am i having a bad hair day??
