I think your friend means system restore. Go to control panel - help and support - click on - undo changes to your system with system restore.
Trish has basically answered your question.

However, I'll just point out that (contrary to what 'someone' has told you) using System Restore doesn't wipe out any data files. Any documents, images, emails, music files, etc which you've acquired (or altered) since the restore date won't disappear. You'll only need to reinstall any programs which were installed after the restore date.

Typing is so slow, thought I`d leave all that, and let lil get a pleasant surprise. I`m aching just typing this.

Thank you so much for your help! Ive just done it and its fine now....what would I do without my fellow ABers!!! Thanks again xxx
Now it is working CREATE your own System Restore point (easy to do).

That way you know you have a good working version if something goes wrong again.

VHG...how do I do that???
Go to control panel - help and support - click on - undo changes to your system with system restore.
Then tick the one that says create restore point. You will be asked to type a name for the restore point.
I usually put ALL OK.
It`s very handy if you need to restore again, if things go wrong you can go back to this point, knowing that all was working well.
