digital photos held on cd-r

normally burn digital photos to 700mb cd-r and print off as required. recently acquired digital photoframe, and have been importing from these cd-rs through windowsphoto gallery and downloading to a 1gb Xd card to use in frame. 2 of these cd-rs(out of about 25) each about 3/4 full are refusing to download to my computer, although i have previously made prints from them via computer! any ideas how i can unlock these cd-rs, or gain access to the pictures that they (hopefully) still hold?

I've had some CDs which have become either wholly or partially unreadable on the PC which I created them on. I found that I could read them on another PC, and I later found that I could read them with the the original PC after I'd changed the CD drive.

So you might want to see if you can access the files on a friend's PC and then copy them to a fresh CD which (hopefully) your PC will be able to read.

Otherwise you might need to try some file recovery software. This might do the job:

Three things:

1) I always backup my pictures to TWO CDs, for this very reason, just in case one becomes unreadable.

2) I always try to "read" my CDs on another computer before deleting the files of my hard disk. Just to make sure they work.

3) After you have added pictures to a CD, it is best NOT to try to add more (not sure if you have done this). This can cause a CD to become unreadable. This has happened to me in the past.
