I've been on a couple dates via internet sites (not actual dating sites) and wondered if it is still seen aa a bit of a sad/weird way to meet partners??? Considering joining a dating website as just dont seem to have time to meet new people right now.

you should check out the eds new newsletter it is riddled with ads and links to dating sites, which fits ion well with the sudden appearance of your question in this topic, which is not relationships and dating btw
I don't think the same stigma is attached to it as there used to be, however, if you can't find the time to go out an meet people, then would you even have time for the person after you've met someone via online dating sites?
I think the increase in on-line liasons is simply a natural byproduct of the new age of communication.

It's easy for us older ones to find it odd that people will meet and chat on-line, but to people who have grown up with the Internet, it's as natural as meeting in a club or pub.

I don;t think it's sad at all - I have two friends very happily married to partners they met on-line - one has emigrated to the US with his new wife.

I do think you need a large degree of patience to sift through the time-wasters ans weirdos who are attracted by the anonymity and ability to build a fantasy personna in cyber-space.

Go in with your eyes open, and be careful and safe, and see what happens.

Good luck.
andy-hughes has summed it up beautifully, but must ask.........are you looking for one night stands(sex), long term relationship, or "see how it goes?"

Important to get onto the right dating agency and remember that you have all the ace cards.

Good luck

Only if you stop posting pics of me :o)
