There is, but it costs money (unless you have a dial up connection as opposed to broadband).

We use this at my company: http://www.interfax.net/en/index.html and have found it excellent
Who is your ISP...

Some (tiscali do for sure) offer a fax service from there webpage if you login.

thanks...i used to have dial up connection..so im sure its still there if i just plug it in ?

thing is my vista doesnt appear to have a windows fax an scan...

im on virgin broadband now
It won't be there - just as you pay to have broadband, you would have to pay someone for a dial up service. There are / were pay as you go ones, but still need paying for.

I think the tiscali fax service is free (actually subsidised by 0870 cost of call) only for incoming faxes, outgoing ones cost money: http://netphone.tiscali.co.uk/faqs.html?faq=/f aq/fax.xml
I used to fax from my pc from time to time when I had a phone line, even though my broadband is and always has been a cable, non-phoneline broadband.

The cost of the fax just showed on my phone bill, in exactly the same way as if I had connected a fax machine to the phone line
Cool, didn't know that ethel - what program do you use?
I didn't use any program - I used the facility in XP. Vista has the same:

not got Vista, but pretty sure the fax and scan program is only included in the higher versions.. not vista Home
It's in all versions of Vista

hi ethel...i have searched my system and it just isnt there... can you tell me where i might find it?

the search function just explains what a fax etc is, not how to send one or set up an account

thanks
I don't know about Vista but in XP you have to enable the fax service in Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs > Add and Remove Windows Components.

If you know somebody with an online fax account you can ask help from them. Online faxing doesn't need a fax machine, instead using an email or an online account, you can send and receive faxes .RingCentral has given me the chance to do this..Internet faxing is very accessible, as long as you have an internet connected PC and online fax utility then you'll do good.
Use windows fax utilities. Seek tutorial online. google it.
