Hi, I have just installed the most recent version of Mozilla Firefox. It insists on opening and defaulting to a Tab that tells me I have updated. How can I stop that please?

It did last time they updated. It is (I think) something to do with a locked "preference file". Some JO JO at Mozilla seems to think it is fun. I'm trying to find where s/he lives. Anyone know where I can buy a gun?

click start and then run and type the following in to the run box
%APPDATA%
and hit enter, then double click the mozilla folder, then the firefox folder, then the profiles folder, and then the folder in there called something like 2umal6tg.default
in that folder locate a file called prefs.js and rename it to something else (prefs.old will do)
reload firefox and it will create a new prefs file for you and should fix the problem.
