pc keyboard problem

Help! the pound sign, usually found on the number 3 key, top row,has disappeared off my keyboard. I've tried all the other keys and it is nowhere to be found. This happened at the same time as the @ key moved itself to the number 2 key on top row. What's going on ? does anyone know how I can find the pound sign ?

Start > Settings > Control Panel
Double click 'Regional and Language Options'
Click the 'Languages' tab
Click the 'Details' button
Under 'Installed Services' make sure that English (United Kingdom) is installed as apposed to English (United States)

Thanks Dashio, I've tried this but it hasnt worked, any other ideas ? Still no pound sign and @ is still up on top row on the 2 button!

What operating system are you using? Xp, Vista, other?

Under regional options , go through each tab and make sure everything is set to United Kingdom and not United States.
