Mine has just gone T1ts up, all the plus features have failed, probably the disc drive has gone , Now SKy want to charge me 99 for a new box + 60 for someone to connect it. Does an aftermarket equivalent exist? ie I just want to put my card in and go, anyone know of such a beast, especially with a DVD recorder built in, thanks

I would be tempted to remove the hard drive from the sky box and test it in a computer, if it proves to be faulty spend about 30-40quid on a new hard drive and put it in the sky box.

After your initial 12 months the sky box is your property & therefore your problem, I can tell you it is worth paying for the maintenance insurance that Sky offer. Since I have taken it out 5 months ago I have had 4 call outs & 4 replacement HD boxes due to picture freezing & problems recording to the HD drive.Things are ok now,but any further probs are completely covered.
