A choose to refuse?
64 Answers
An Aber has the option to refuse any more answers if they feel a question has been sufficiently answered. But what about someone who is getting abuse from certain users. Surely the best option would be to bar those abusive posters from coming onto their threads? If I posted a question and someone kept giving me abuse, surely it would be a useful facility if I could "choose to refuse" answers from that particular person, whilst still allowing the participation of those who wish to contribute to my thread? A bit like the facility you have on your BT landline, where you can ban the last caller!
That would cut out a lot of the abuse that goes on here and and might even free up some of your time, too, Ed!

Like you I prefer tea and cake afternoons on here and what are you going to watch on tv tonight and what time did you get up this morning and do you use Andrex or ASDA own brand and am I allowed to strangle a parrot, but fights tend to butt in. I never start arguments and do my best to pour oil on troubled waters when they start, but I fear I am fighting a losing battle.

Thanks guys! I have only been on here 4 weeks and made the mistake of exchanging email addys with another user. I am now getting abuse from all the aliases of this particular user and do not know why she has taken exception to me. I don't want to resort to having to embarrass her and reveal who she is, because that is not my style and I do not come on here to ruffle feathers. If I could block this person and all her aliases, I won't have to resort to desperate measures.

Sorry - meant to explain that she gave me her email address first when we found out we shared something in common. I then gave her mine because I thought she was ok. But she took exception to my banter with someone else and sent me an email which was a tad psycho, in which she predicted that I would get abuse. When I had abuse the other day by one of her aliases, I threatened to copy and paste the email and she agreed to back off. But now she is coming at me again under different aliases. I don't even know what the hell I've done wrong.
There are also a fair few that have been kind and welcoming. The thing about the few that have made derogatory comments is that they are all of the same style.
When I tell one to back off, suddenly a new one appears. When all's said and done, it's just a coward who hides behind a keyboard.
Love me or loathe me, I quite like who I am, I will never apologise for being me and I'm here to stay.

The problem is that if someone is hell-bent on stalking you they will register again and again under new usernames, which leaves AnswerBank with the option of IP blocking, but I've gathered that's problematical and may apparently cause what Wikipedia describes as collateral damage (sounds like a war going on!)
