Card reader not recognised

I have a Soyntec Nexoos 550 card reader and can't get it to download photos onto my computer which is Windows XP. Shall i download the 98 driver, which I shouldn't need or is there anything else I can do. Thank you.

Went to the shop and the reader wasn't working so they have replaced it and all's well.
