transfering itunes library to new pc using ipod

hi Ive just followed the instructions from apple on how to transfer my music using my ipod to my new laptop it all seemed to go well until I opended itunes all my music is in a shared folder and will not sync this music back onto my ipod because its not in the main music folder Ive tried consolidating the library but that didnt work,anyone any experience with this?
