something has happened to this computer. i was sent an email where i needed to view a medical procedure before i go for my appointment this week. the computer is saying i cannot view things now ie videos, you tube, as i need to update flash player but when i do update it, it says its complete but it doesnt make a difference..it then said about updating java but i can see this has been done overnight automatically anyway. im inclined to restore back to yesterday morning but have forgotten what i go to on the computer panel. its vista and still havent got my head around it, any help appreciated.
First, go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features and uninstall Flash. (It probably appears as something like 'Adobe Flash Player Plug-in'). Then reinstall from here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If that doesn't work, then try System Restore:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
wow, i am having so many problems here, it says to click on bar above to activate Active X or something. i did but still no success, would rather do a computer restore now i think but as i said dont know where to find it, thanks for your help
OK, I admit I don't use Vista but I've never seen a Windows screen without a Start button at the bottom left of the screen! (If you've not got one, how do you shut down your computer?).
Anyway, pressing the Windows key on your keyboard (bottom left, next to Ctrl) should do exactly the same as clicking Start.
the computer chris really doesnt have a start button just a windows icon in the bottom corner which then has a menu going across saying restart, hibernate, shut down etc. i did click on the icon however then noticed above it that it says all programmes, i then saw accesories etc. so i finally managed to find system restore so thank you very much. doing it this way i can choose what i date i want to restore back to. when i did it the other way through control panel the computer just restored it right there and then and gave me no option to choose a date. i really hope this works now as not having flash player is an absolute pain. just cant get it to work though it says its downloaded the latest version. as you can see im a total computer incompetent so its good to have folks like you out there.:)
oh no, it still hasnt worked, going through your route chris has given me exactly the same options as before, 4 dates that the computer is saying i can restore to but they are after the time i want to restore to. im sure there used to be a blank box where you could choose a date and time to restore back to, any more help very welcome.
On Windows XP it is a 'Start' button in bottom left. In Vista the Windows logo is the same thing. If you want to see more restore point sin Vista there is a check box for 'see restore points older than 5 days' if there is any that is, depends if you have it set to create restore points automatically. If your really stuck. I can try to help via messenger or something.
