My Packard Bell C3300 laptop has developed four vertical lines on the screen. Does anyone know what these might be and if they will damage the computer if left untreated. Thanks,

It sounds as if the screen has been damaged. I do not think there is a cure for this.

I can guarantee that the screen hasn't been damaged as there is only me that uses it and I am an older user with no children in the house, thanks anyway.
Very likely as above,

But it may also be a bad connection.

you can often access the screen connector on the base side of it by popping off the panel above the keyboard, but all lappys are built different so you may not be able to!!

if it's the screen end of the lead then the screen assembly needs to be split, also not that hard.

If it is a simple case of a bad connection I would not expect a "decent" computer shop to charge much at all if your not comfortable doing it yourself.

Thanks chuck but I don't think I am confident enough to even attempt to try what you suggest. I will probably ask the techguys at PC World.
I did say "decent" computer shop!
Question Author
How do I know when I have found a "decent" computer shop and what is wrong with PC World, I guess I must be naive.
I have no time with PC World who "repaired" a machine once for me by fitting an expensive part unnecessarily and returning it with more faults than it started with!
A local, established, independent shop will probably be a better bet. but word of mouth or personal recommendation is the best way to find somebody good and trustworthy.
