Do you mean firewire?

anyhow, it only has USB for inputs

i think thats what i mean,i have a camcorder with a dv output which i want to copy onto my laptop,if it doesnt have this then i think i need a card and some wire??as you can probably tell i am crap at this technology stuff,i am emailing some shop and they keep askin me if i have this and that and i aint got a clue what they are on about!mite just take my laptop to currys where i got the camcorder from and say,"ere,sort this out!"haha!

Im trying to do exactly the same thing at the moment. I have a HP DV6000 laptop about 18months old, a Sony DCRPC2 Mini DV camera and a 4 pin to 4 pin Firewire lead. My Laptop has a 4 pin firewire (IEEE 1394) port but can i get it to work? Ummm no. For some reason the laptop doesnt recognise my cam. Still working on it. let me know if you have any joy :-)

oh rite!!now i get it!!haha!i did wonder wot that little thing where above the usb!!right im getting somewhere thanks rojash!so i buy this card thing,then i need some wire from the camcorder to the card,whats that called?firewire?

Sorry to be a pain, isn't that a PCMCIA card and the laptop has an express card slot.
