Word back up
5 Answers
Help! My son has just lost all of his work by saving a blank word document over his extensive and almost complete course work. Surely there must be an automatically saved back up copy somewhere on this machine.

Hmm....why dont u search the computer for all files end in .doc....and maybe if luck is shining ur way u might see the document .....its a bit of a long shot....
In Windows ME it would entail
1. click on start button.]
2. on the menu click on search/find
3. then it would ask what to search for
4. u fill in the file type which is word doc ending will be .doc
5 then look at the files and see if u can spot urs .....good luck!
there is only one way to get round this, and it needs to be a new machine, running XP. I have had to do something like this before. I think its in the "accesories" but you can reboot your system to its last back up date (usually a month ago) will look on my pc tonight and help, but if you ain't XP then doomed you are
Its called system restore. Go to the start menu and then run and type msconfig. there u shud see an option for system restore. this will only work if your system ahas made a back up whilst the coursework was still there, so think back to when it was and look for a coresponding date in system restore. only do this if you KNOW it will work or you are completely out of options as it cant be reversed. once you go back.. you stay back (works in xp and me)
