E Machines Windows XP
Whilst my computer was switched on my young son pulled out the mouse and keyboard lead, when trying to restart the computer it is coming up with a black screen with white writing saying ... we apologise for the inconvenience but windows did not start started succesfully, a recent hardware or software change night have caused this... It is goiving me 5 options which are..... Safe Mode... Safe Mode with networking.... Safe mode with command prompt.... last known configuration and start windows normally. I have tried all of these options and it is still coming up with same screen, I just cannot seem to get passed it.
Please help!

I would have thought Start Windows Normaly would work.
Next best option would be Last Known Configuratoin.
If that does not work, nor any of the others, then it sounds like some of your important Windows files have become corrupt or damaged.
If that is the case then I think you need to do a Windows repair, and to do that I THINK you need the proper Windows disk to do that (I have never done it).

Here are the instructions for a Windows repair install, and it seems you do need the proper Windows XP disk.

Please DONT follow these instructions YET.

first unplug the muse and keyboard from the computer than try to restart the computer .
after that shutdown the computer and connect the mouse and keyboard in the computer .
restart the computer , if it wil create a probelm than restart the computer in safe mode.
go to start>programs>accessories>system tools>restore .
restore the computer to its previous date .
so all the settings back and the computer will run in normal mode
