did CCleaner destroy my lappy?
27 Answers
CCleaner is increasingly popular, and I've seen it mentioned on here a few times.
I've even responded to a question about it, and I said I thought it was good.
But now ...
I've just found this ...

One of my lappys died yesterday, for no apparent reason, and could not be saved. I had to buy a new one.
The crash happened ...
... just after I had run CCleaner !!! !!! !!! !!! !!!
Just thought I'd mention it.

to be fair J - one person's experience shouldn't form the basis of a witch hunt (although historically it always has).
and chuck did offer to drive down and sort it ...
CC is a handy tool for everyone techies and "ordinary" users alike (that sound patronising - it's not meant to)
It speeds up a time consuming job that does need doing from time to time
I always recommend the default settings ... and warn about deleting cookies. if used correctly (not aggressively) it has a very low risk rate.
google ccleaner review or ccleaner problems and you'll be hard pressed to find negative reviews
(except from the sponsored links on the right - which is where your link comes from)
if you want to crit free virus scanners ... now that's another matter
