I like to play Halo onlibe but it suffers terrible lag. Does anyone know how to improve it?

choose servers by ping not gametype.the lower the ping the quicker the server.i think the problem with halo is that bungie have closed many of the better servers.

see u on halo 2 on the 11th  !!!!!!!!(if u have an xbox of course!)

Thanks Mattk, a pal has advised disabling antivirus when playing, it seems to have done the trick. I will also do as u suggest on the ping rating, thanks again :)

disabling antivirus ? im glad its improved your game but is it worth the risk ?

I'm not sure if I'll be attacked during gaming. I leave my firewall on and as soon as I'm finished gaming, reset the antivirus. The only other option is maybe another antivirus that doesn't cause lag. I'm looking forward to Halo2, not sure if pc's will be on same servers as x-box tho!. If I get a virus during play I'll let you know, or not, depending if the virus kaputs my system. Cheers;)

The game will only run at the slowest connection speed.

It really does depend what you mean by Lag. Obviously you would benefit from a high speed connection (Broadband) Also, if it's your computer that is lagging, shut down all unused programs and services that your computer is running.

Thanks lkhnet, I'm on broadband and have now found as you say shutting down progs usually works. Also disconnecting and reconnecting can do it too! The lag I get is the gameplay staggering and sometimes I kept reappearing in other parts of the scene. But it's stopped now thanks!
